APPG supports Atlantic 30x30 vision

On Monday evening, the APPG was delighted to support Greenpeace at their parliamentary reception.

As the BBNJ Agreement passed through the Commons that evening, members of the APPG joined colleagues, ocean advocates and stakeholders to recognise this important milestone. Thank you to Ministers Seema Malhotra FRSA and Emma Hardy for taking this Bill through the House of Commons, and for recognising the work of the APPG for the Ocean in raising awareness of ocean issues.

At the reception, we had the opportunity to screen Greenpeace’s new short film about the Sargasso Sea and the UK Overseas Territory of Bermuda, and to hear from those calling for its protection under the High Seas Treaty.

Importantly, the event brought Parliament together with stakeholders from across the ocean sector to renew calls for the UK to meet its 30 by 30 target. While we celebrate the progress made so far, it is also a reminder that there is still much more to do.
