APPG Annual General Meeting
The APPG for the Ocean has held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), an important step forward for ocean awareness and action in Parliament.
We’re pleased to share that Sarah Champion MP has been re-elected as Chair, with Tris Osborne MP, Lord Sharpe, and Baroness Miller elected as Vice Chairs.
At the AGM, members discussed an exciting range of activity for the year ahead, including opportunities to build on the findings of the APPG’s recent inquiry, “What can sustainable ocean policy deliver for the UK?”. Harnessing the groups momentum and continuing calls for calls for the Government to publish a cross-departmental UK and International Ocean Strategy.
The APPG for the Ocean provides a collaborative space for parliamentarians to:
🌊 Support and promote ocean research and awareness
🌊 Deepen understanding of the ocean’s role in tackling challenges such as climate change
🌊 Debate broader ocean issues that affect communities, nature, and the economy
A huge thank you to all our members for their ongoing contributions and active participation. We look forward to another year of championing ocean protection and driving meaningful impact.
