APPG joint meeting with the Channel Islands

Last week, the APPG was delighted to host a joint meeting with the Channel Islands APPG on the progress in Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). We were pleased to hear from Nick Greenwood from the Marine Management Organisation, local Sussex fisherman Clive Mills, Chairman John Guille from Sark, State Member, Jeannie Cameron from Alderney, Minister Steve Luce from Jersey, and Deputy Steve Falla from Guernsey, who all shared their insights into the challenges and successes of marine conservation.

The meeting focused on key themes of fishing communities, strengthening governance, and protecting our marine ecosystems. It highlighted how interconnected these issues are and how urgently we need integrated solutions that support both community livelihoods and environmental resilience.

This aligns with our recent report, which shows how well‑designed and well‑managed MPAs can support both thriving marine ecosystems and resilient coastal communities.
